CBT
I have been looking quiet a lot into CBT recently and how it is used as a method to treat anxiety. It is recognised by the NHS as the best way to treat anxiety so I’m curious to know more. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is not about solving the problem but about changing the way you think. It involves breaking down the negative thoughts and feelings and turns them into rational thoughts.
I have been reading Visual CBT, this is a book that uses visual cues to help apply CBT thinking to situations the reader may find anxious. This is a good tool, and I can see why people would use it, it's looking at many situations anxiety can strike and giving people a structure to work with in these moments.
I have also been toying around with how I am going to gain in-depth user research, as I feel this isn’t a topic maybe people would want to talk about. I have been searching through a couple of chat rooms where people have been speaking about their anxiety, but not much has prevailed from those. I have found Reddit extremely useful though, people post up questions on the Social Anxiety and Anxiety Sub-reddit, asking questions about what to do in anxious situation, how they can help their anxiety and so on. I think this might be a very useful tool to use to get a little insight into how people think.
