A failed CNC
Something bad has happened. So after trying to create my shape on the CNC before and it being accidently stopped I thought I would give it another try with my final refined shape. I had the ash in its lovely correct cylinder but the CNC seems to hate it. The belt slipped on the machine, stopping the whole cycling and causing my mill to come to a stuttering halt. I didn't want to try for a third time so I my next option is the workshop. Being Interaction the workshop is very foreign to me, but I went down and asking for some guidance. Malcolm claims he could have made this in a day and I shouldn't have even bothered with the CNC - true but we learn from our mistakes.
I showed him my refined 3D print of my shape and we figured out how we could make this by hand. I got the centre curve by using the bobbin sander, this worked great. It took a few attempts to get right and straight, but it wasn't that difficult.
Now there was the matter of sorting out the edges, how was I going to get the rounded edge. I chamfered down the top edges at an angle. This worked well and meant I can just hand sand down the hard edges and make a curved edge.
So I am going to do a proper version over the next few days and have my hand at milling it out.
