Share Square was a project which stemmed from a 2rd year University module. The task was to design a futuristic application that would represent culture in a physical space whilst attracting and entertaining users.
Through an app, users take a photo or “selfie”, attached a story and choose a category their photo belongs to. With one swipe the photos are displayed on the walls of the city square, displaying the photos and story behind it.
Not only did our mobile and tablet application engage users, the walls were used to connect passers-by as the community’s thoughts, views and culture are represented in a public space. It is a celebration of people, culture and a chance to utilise urban spaces, right at the heart of a 21st century smart city revolution.
On the 14th of November, we teamed up with Dundee City Council and Share Square made its debut in Dundee City Square to an estimated crowd of 20,000 people at the Christmas Light Night switch on.
